Most guys will acknowledge that at least once in their life they have made a white lie in order to impress a girl. May I introduce Desmond and Talia. 5 years ago Desmond’s company had a Holiday party. It was at a well known bar in San Diego. The bar was packed with people celebrating and drinking. But Desmond did not drink. In fact, he was allergic to alcohol. He was standing with a group of friends when one of them asked him to go to the bar and get him a drink. Desmond obliged. But, as I said, the bar was packed, and it was hard to flag a bartender down. Enter Talia. She and her friends heard about this party and decided to crash it. Desmond was sitting at the bar trying to get the attention of the bartender when a gorgeous girl caught his eye. So he watched her while he waited. He happened to notice what she was drinking, it was a Stone IPA. Suddenly the crowd pushed her closer to Desmond. There was that awkward pause, and the next words were from the bartender, “what can I get you pal?” Thinking quickly he ordered 2 Stone IPA’s and gave one to her. They started chatting, and well, you know, the dating began. (btw, Desmond was terribly sick that night). Fast forward 5 years and these two are about to tie the knot. And do you want to know where their wedding was? It was at the Stone Brewery in san Marcos, CA.
Now for some photography comments. Although the Stone campus was beautiful it presented several challenge. #1 there were so many trees that the light was spotty everywhere you went. It was really difficult to find a place to do portraits. One, because of the light issue, and it was a narrow area, and people were setting up for the wedding, and were in every background. #2 There was so much greenery that it gave off a green colorcast, which was seen in the images. Everyone looked sick because of the color reflected on their skin. #3 The ceremony was in the afternoon, so the sun was quite harsh. #4 The reception area and dancefloor did not have much ambient light so I needed to put up some lights.
All in all it was a nice day. It was quite unique to see all of the Toasts using beer instead of champagne. And boy do these Millennials love their beer.
